Celebrating 25 Years of FAU Football: A Legacy of Gratitude and Community
As Florida Atlantic University Football celebrates its silver 25th anniversary, there’s a deep sense of pride that fills the FAU community — and few people feel that pride more than Dr. Richard Staller. From the very beginning, Dr. Staller has been part of the FAU Football journey — from the program’s founding days to the exciting growth of the Owls we see today.
As one of the original supporters and the long-standing Team Dentist for FAU Athletics, Dr. Staller has had a front-row seat to the evolution of the program. But beyond the title, he’s been a constant presence — on the sidelines, in the community, and in the lives of countless student-athletes. His commitment has always gone beyond dental care. It’s been about supporting young athletes in every way — celebrating their wins, guiding them through challenges, and being part of their journey both on and off the field.
Over the past 25 years, Dr. Staller has watched FAU athletes grow into confident young men and women — some going on to play in the NFL, others becoming leaders in their communities and professions. Through it all, he’s built lifelong friendships with coaches, administrators, trainers, and players who have become like family.
“It’s been one of the great joys of my life to be part of this program since day one,” says Dr. Staller. “To see how far FAU Football has come — and to have played even a small part in that — is something I’ll always be grateful for.”
As the FAU Owls celebrate this milestone season, Dr. Staller reflects not just on the past, but on the future — the games yet to be played, the athletes yet to be mentored, and the smiles yet to be protected.
