What is Oral Surgery?

Although oral surgery may be needed to treat head, neck, jaw and face injuries, diseases or defects, the most common form of oral surgery is tooth extraction. At Advanced Dentistry South Florida, we offer various oral surgery services that include tooth extraction, reconstructive dental surgery, implant dentistry and wisdom teeth removal. While the thought of tooth removal (extraction) may be scary to some patients, our team of professional oral surgeons go the extra mile to make sure your comfort is priority from start to finish, including the healing process when you’re away from the office.

Tooth Extractions

Good oral hygiene should always be practiced since the loss of a single tooth can have major impact upon your oral health and appearance. Although dentists will use every measure to prevent tooth loss, occasionally there are still necessary reasons when a tooth may need to be extracted. A tooth may need to be extracted for the following reasons:

  • Severe decay
  • Advanced periodontal disease
  • Infection or abscess
  • Orthodontic correction
  • Malpositioned teeth
  • Fractured teeth or roots
  • Impacted teeth
  • Oral Cancer

After careful examination and treatment, the dentist may advise having a tooth extracted. Before a tooth is removed, the dentist will take an x-ray in order to understand the shape and position of the tooth and surrounding bone. You will not even need to leave our beautiful office. We have experienced, professional oral surgeons in Delray Beach on staff that will take care of you after you have seen the general dentist.

If Bone Grafting is needed, our dental experts will guide you through the entire process and answer all of your questions.
