Invisalign Delray Beach, FL
Quite a few of our patients, young and old ask us about Invisalign treatment and if it’s the right choice for them. In order to properly evaluate each patient and discuss their dental needs and goals, an appointment should be made a general dentist and they will evaluate if you are a candidate for a referral to our Invisalign specialist.
What is Invisalign?
Invisalign is a custom-made, virtually invisible aligner tray that is specifically designed to help straighten your teeth. This cutting edge technology is made of smooth, comfortable trays that are designed to gently straighten your teeth over a period of time, often quicker than the time traditional braces will take to straighten your teeth, which is why dental patients often choose this over braces when suffering from malocclusion and crowding of the teeth.
What is the Invisalign process?
X-Rays and impressions of your teeth will be taken by your dentist so that a customized treatment plan can be put into place. Your dentist will be able to show you how your teeth will be positioned during each stage of the treatment process. Once you have a clear understanding of what to expect during your treatment period, your dentist will proceed with creating your custom clear aligners. You will wear these smooth, clear trays approximately every two weeks, changing them out to the next stage of aligners. Your doctor will schedule you for occasional checkups to make sure you are progressing as you should. Once you and your doctor are satisfied with the results from Invisalign treatment, you will be given a set of clear dental retainers to wear at night when you go to bed to help you maintain your straight smile going forward.
How long does Invisalign take?
Results are often achieved in a fraction of the time compared to traditional braces, but the treatment process can vary depending on each patients needs. Your dentist will look at the movement of your teeth so that the duration of the treatment may be determined, which typically is a year for adults and approximately the length of time it takes for braces to straighten teeth for teens.
Can I remove the Invisalign trays?
Yes, removal of your tray is simple and easy to do. It is recommended to keep your trays in place for a period of 20 – 22 hours each day until treatment is finished. Your dentist will recommend removing your aligner only if you are eating, brushing your teeth, or flossing.
