The sound of a blade cutting through wood and the constant thump of a hammering replaced the noise of a dental drill when the doctors and team at Advanced Dentistry South Florida traded in their dental tools for power tools to lend a hand with Habitat for Humanity.
The staff members and their families joined together to help build a house for a much deserving mother and her children. From removing debris to laying sheets of plywood to form the roof, not a hand was empty. The future homeowner applied with Habitat for Humanity back in 2015 and is putting in sweat equity to help build her home.
Giving back is one of the core values at Advanced Dentistry South Florida. The dental team is no stranger to Habitat for Humanity as they have volunteered in the past with the non-profit who help to provide affordable housing to those in need. “Helping others is part of what we do. Whether in dentistry or through volunteer efforts, our team is committed to helping our community.”-Kelli Carter, Practice Administrator
Not only did the staff members participate, but they brought their children. “I want my daughter to volunteer to give back to her community while teaching her to always be grateful. I want her to grow up to be a kind adult. In addition to a fun activity for our family to do together, it makes us feel good to help others.”- Cheyenne Davis Kraft
Many of the volunteers said they felt very empowered to be able to help others and learn a new skill at the same time. Several of the volunteers signed up for the Women’s Build which is the week of Mother’s Day where 150 women join to finish the homes for several new homeowners.
Dr. Richard Staller, owner of Advanced Dentistry South Florida encourages his team to participate and give back as he has done for decades. “We have been fortunate to be successful in the community and believe in giving back to help those that may not be as fortunate as we are.”- Dr. Richard Staller
The homeowner also participated during the construction of the new home and is grateful for the support from the community. She is looking forward to having a safe place to call home for her and her children. If you’re interested in getting involved, please visit ad-sf.com for volunteer information.
