How does an aircraft part manufacturing company align with a dental office to provide safety protection for the team and patients?
Well, here is the story.
As the COVID pandemic approached, none of us knew what the future would hold for various companies. When the Governor of Florida and the American Dental Association said all non-emergent dental care should cease, we were very uncertain about what to do. We are healthcare providers and our patients need us, especially when they are in pain! The last thing to do is to go into an emergency room for a toothache. Hence, the virtual visits.
As many of us know, Dr. Staller has been close with many community members for many years. As this pandemic became a reality, we knew we had to be creative in order to have the supplies and equipment we needed to help our patients.
Dr. Staller began conversations with Jason from Blackbird. Blackbird designs and manufactures patented paint masking kits for aircraft wheels and brakes. This allows masking or unmasking in less than two minutes – a dramatic saving in both time and expense over the current method with zero waste. Blackbird’s current customers include Boeing / Aviall, Honeywell, Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, Aerolineas Argentinas and Copa Airlines.
Wait… What? A company that designs and manufacturers paint masking kits for aircraft wheels and brakes can help a dental office? How?
Jason understood the need that dental offices were facing and he wanted to help! His company was able to manufacture the clear “sneeze guards” as they are called, that divide space to ensure social distancing or place a barrier in between the people.
Jason and Richard from Blackbird came out on a Sunday to measure and create the designs to ensure a quality product that wouldn’t leave us feeling trapped or divided from our patients.
We had all seen the shower curtains as make-shift dividers and dangling plastic partitions from rope suspended from the ceiling, but it was important to us that we were able to provide an environment that felt the most “normal”, but safe for our patients.
A big THANK YOU to Jason, Richard, the team at Blackbird and all of the companies that have looked outside of the box to help us provide the equipment and supplies we need to ensure our patient’s and team’s safety!
And that’s how an aircraft part manufacturing company and a dental office partnered to provide superior safety for our patients!
